The above is a previously unpublished film treatment by Salvador Dali, written in 1937 for the Marx Brothers. The movie was never made, reportedly because MGM, which had an exclusive contract with the Marx Brothers, felt it was too surreal. This treatment, which Dali wrote in English, was recently discovered among Dali's papers; it is owned and was made available by the Fundació Gala-Salvador Dalí in Figueres, Spain.

An angelic violinist is suspended from the ceiling. A giant shell is Salvador Dali’s deathbed. Time and space melts away as we are taken on a lobster-sized trip through the life and mind of one of the great artists – or con-artists – of the twentieth century.

This roller coaster of madness and mayhem plummets the audience into a landscape of Dali’s well known paintings and into the depths and depravities of the artist’s own subconscious.

Question by James from ???: "i am looking for information on the marilyn monroe lips sofa. I have one in my possession but I cannot find anything out. i did find a reference to dali...can you help me"
Omega: Dali did create one (at left) of Mae West, not of Marilyn Monroe. It is called Mae West Lips Sofa and he created it in 1936-37. It is a wooden frame upholstered in dark and light pink felt.
